Samurai Anime
Just thought I'd make a thread on samurai anime, post your favorites, talk about them, no real rules except what the mods have as rules.
I'll start discussion with my two favorite samurai animes: Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai Champloo. I read the manga version of Rurouni Kenshin as well, so I have discussion open for that as well. Happy posting!

If Kenshin and Yahiko were to fight each other for some reason, its possible that Yahiko could win, because if you've read up to the latest volume he has the heart and soul of a true Hiten-Mitsurugi swordsman. And if Kenshin and Jin were to fight, who would win? I'd say Kenshin.

haha i'd definitely say kenshin, its a classic. and u can trust me xD im an anime addict..
i liked the beginning 4 OVAs more than the series though.. fighting scenes were awesome, story was awesome, too short though ;\.
champloo i liked, but some episodes were boring or kinda corny. overall good..
some more i'd recommend:
samurai 7: an interesting combination of futuristic technology and samurai, with very good fighting scenes, an AWESOME story, characters that are awesome (kyuuzou), and good ending.
peacemaker kurogane: another samurai anime. graphics and story similar to kenshin. really fun, especailly the last few episodes.
bleach: not sure if this counts as samurai, but it has people in robes and swords so im saying it does !! ;] probably my favorite series right now. CRAZYASSS fighting scenes, good story, and the best characters ever lol.
other good series (non samurai)
tenjo tenge: more on the martial arts side, but has people with weapons. kinda has spiritual energy sort of stuff, magic, and the HOTTEST ANIME CHICKS you will ever see. haha good stuff though
full metal panic fumoffu: probably my 2nd favorite comedy anime. basic story is about a guy who's in a secret elite military organization but is assigned to protect some chick at a normal high school. its really funny watching him try to fit in.
maburaho: 4 chicks. 1 guy. ROFLROFL u can guess the story. really funny
naruto: i used to like this, but its getting kinda whack. too many fillers and really slow moving. i'd definitely recommend the begining though.
and of courseeeeeeeeeeeee....
the classics: noir, trigun, cowboy bebop

I guess if it came down to just story: I'd go with the kinda obscure Samurai Deeper Kyo. Honestly, the plot to this series is really cool IMO. The animation looks really good and clean but the fight scenes just don't hold a candle to any of the other samurai anime I've seen (ie: Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai Champloo, Samurai X...).
Going a little off-topic, the movie Samurai Fiction is pretty cool, and of course Seven Samurai is classic. But neither of those are anime.

:P Kenshin, while an awesome Manga, was an absolutely shitty Anime conversion in my honest opinion. But, I tend to be a crotchety Manga purist, so don't mind me. I enjoyed the Hakkenden, but I recommend renting it if possible.
Speaking about Manga, I highly recommend Blade of the Immortal. While I've not read enough of them to empathetically recommend them, Lone Wolf and Cub, and Vagabond (Manga about Miyomoto Musashi) both were pretty cool.
While not technically a "Samurai" or even an Anime thing, I also like Zatoichi and various other old Japanese movies. They are an acquired taste, though, because the pacing and the action may not be to everyone's liking.

Yes I know Samurai X is Rurouni Kenshin. But I kinda hold them as separate entities just because of the style of animation and all (pretty much I hold them separate because one is OAV and one is a series).

The Kenshin OAVs was pretty much what happened in the Manga, but someone dumped a bucket of liquified Linkin Park on it.

Actually, I have a friend that got the Ninja Scroll TV series and I was meaning to see it. I dug the Ninja Scroll move to some extent but I loved Jubei Chan and Jubei Chan II. Though I don't quite think Yagyu Jubei had a heart shaped eyepatch.
